Venezuelan Majority Support Government, Opposition Talks

Caracas - A study by the Venezuelan Institute of Applied Planning revealed that 69.9 percent of Venezuelans currently support the calls made by President Nicolas Maduro to encourage talks between the government and the opposition.
The purpose of the investigation was to determine national public opinion regarding the situation generated by the threats to the peace of the nation by the United States, reported the Planning Vice President, Ricardo Menendez, in an interview granted to Venezolana de Television.
Menendez pointed out that the survey covered both sectors of the population that support the Bolivarian Revolution and opposition citizens in urban areas, neighborhoods and popular sectors of the South American nation.
Seventy-seven percent of those polled said they disagreed completely with the foreign interference favored by the opposition, while 80 percent advocated that only Venezuelans should decide on their development and future.
Facing the aggressions decreed by the Donald Trump U.S. administration, 86 out of every 100 respondents showed their rejection, while 92 were against any possibility of invasion or foreign intervention in the country.
Likewise, 59 percent of the sample supported the break-up of diplomatic and political relations with the government of Donald Trump as a result of his interference in the attempted coup d'état in Venezuela, recognizing the self-proclamation of congressman Juan Guaido as president in charge of the nation.
The Planning Vice President assured that these results show the will of the people against the interference processes fostered by right-wing leaders.
