Russia Watches US Pretexts to Attack Venezuela

Moscow - Russia is closely following the brazen search by the United States for a pretext for a military aggression against Venezuela, Russian Foreign Minister Serguei Lavrov said today.

After a meeting in China with his counterparts from that Asian country and India, Lavrov said that his nation is aware of the information about what is really happening in Venezuela, the capital television indicated.

We see how brazen attempts are made to create an artificial argument to justify military interference, said the head of Russian diplomacy.

Lavrov pointed out that there are direct threats from Washington about the possibility of any variant, which is confirmed by the reinforcement of material support for these purposes, with the concentration of special forces in the area.

The Russian diplomat referred to the constant provocations, through attempts to violate the Venezuelan border, under the pretext of bringing humanitarian aid, but with the purpose of causing victims.

After that, everything would be done according to the usual scenario of creating a scandal around these events to make way for a war action, denounced the Russian head of Foreign Affairs.

According to the minister, it is not by chance that the Brazilian government announced its refusal to take part or facilitate its territory to the United States for an aggression against Venezuela.

The Russian official admitted that for the moment there is no similar pronouncement from Colombia.

However, Lavrov stressed that not even members of the so-called Grupo de Lima, contrary to the legitimate government of Nicolás Maduro, supported a military option against the aforementioned South American nation.

Russia denounced the day before in the Security Council of the UN that the final objective of Washington with its economic siege and threats or real realization of an aggression against Venezuela is to depose the constitutional president Nicolás Maduro.

Moscow advocates a national dialogue between the government and the opposition as the only possible way out of the political crisis in Venezuela and denounces Washington's attempts to obtain the largest certified reserves in the world.
