Jerónimo Labrada receives 2019 National Film Award

Jerónimo LabradaJerónimo Labrada, academic director of the International Film and Television School (EICTV), receives the 2019 National Film Prize granted by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC).
Labrada is head of the Sound Department and founding professor in the so-called School of All Worlds for more than three decades. He is also Associate Professor at the Higher Institute of Art (ISA). He has collaborated with various institutions in Ibero America, and his book ''El sentido del Sonid'' is a fundamental text for the teaching of the specialty.
Jerónimo Labrada started in 1968 as a film engraver at the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (Icaic), after graduating from the Institute of Telecommunications and Electronics. He stood out in the music recording, so he recorded most of the work of the Icaic Sound Experimentation Group. This outstanding professor made the total sounding, recording and mixing of many Latin American Icaic News, under the direction of Santiago Álvarez.
Miguel Jorge Mendoza Izquierdo and Livio Delgado Camacho were also awarded. Mendoza was director of production of important Cuban films. Among them are Memories of underdevelopment, The first load of the machete and Strawberry and chocolate. Livio Delgado Camacho was director of Photography of films such as: Portrait of Teresa, A girlfriend for David, Cecilia, Amada, A successful man and The century of lights.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
