Caracas - Venezuela concluded the talks with the United States to establish interests offices after the breaking-off of diplomatic relations, the Foreign Ministry said in a communiqué on Tuesday.
The Venezuelan government noted that after the deadline for the negotiations was met without an agreement, it decided not to grant another extension and established a 72-hour period for the remaining personnel in the former US Embassy in Caracas to leave the national territory.
On Monday, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister summoned the US diplomatic representative, James Story, to inform him about the sovereign decision by the Bolivarian Government not to extend the presence of officials from that country in Venezuela, Foreign Minister Jorge Arriaza pointed out.
According to the official communiqué, the permanence of that representation on Venezuelan territory 'poses risks for the country's peace, integrity and stability', in light of threats by top White House spokespersons to use force 'under the pretext of protecting its diplomatic personnel in Caracas'.
The press release underlined that those same officials have systematically lied to the world public opinion about the reality in Venezuela and had personally led 'false flag' operations to justify an intervention.
Venezuela maintains its unalterable willingness to keep channels of communication and dialogue with the Government of the United States, if and when a relationship of equality and mutual respect is observed, the communiqué noted.
