Havana - Cuba''s President Miguel Diaz-Canel, heading a ministerial delegation, began on Thursday a working visit to Havana to check on the ground problems, talk to the people, discuss with local authorities how to solve the issues and assess social programs and economic projects.

It is Diaz-Canel second visit to a Cuban province in less than a month. He himself announced it on his Twitter account. Previously, he traveled to Santiago de Cuba.

Last year, together with members of the Council of Ministers he paid visits to most of the island's 15 provinces, in a first cycle of tours that concluded in February in the eastern province of Las Tunas. This time he's coming to check fulfillment of recommendations given to improve the quality of life of the people and push ahead the economic development of the territories.

In the case of Havana, the President will particularly check on preparations for celebrating the city's 500th anniversary on November 16th. A wide program of events has been mapped out for the occasion.

Specially, he will pay attention and check on recovery efforts to restore damages caused by a killer tornado late January that ravaged five municipalities of Havana.
