The second Vice-President of the Tanzanian region of Zanzibar, Seif Ali Iddi, confirmed in Havana the upcoming opening of an embassy of his country in Cuba, during a meeting with the parliamentary leader Esteban Lazo reported Friday.
According to a statement from the National Assembly of People's Power, its president welcomed Thursday the African leader, who is in Cuba on a private visit.
According to Iddi, the new embassy is part of Tanzania's commitment to support Cuba in its development.
Likewise, he affirmed that the African nation will maintain its support to Cuba in the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for almost 60 years.
Iddi thanked Cuba for its solidarity despite the economic difficulties it faces, particularly in the health sector.
For his part, Lazo explained to the visitor details of the constitutional reform process developed on the island, which had among its transcendental moments the ratification of the new constitution in a popular referendum held on February 24.
In this regard, the parliamentary leader told Iddi that in the coming months the legislative activity will increase in Cuba to implement the law of laws.
