Havana - The president of the United Nations General Assembly Maria Fernanda Espinosa is fulfilling on Thursday a broad agenda on her visit to Cuba, which includes a meeting with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.

Espinosa, who is the fourth woman to hold such a high post at the United Nations and the first woman in Latin America to do it, arrived on Wednesday in Havana, where she will remain until Saturday.

Upon arriving in, Espinosa stated that she expects to talk with authorities, students and members of the Federation of Cuban Women.

She will also meet with representatives in Cuba of agencies of the UN system and will visit the historical center off Old Havana, declared World Heritage Site in 1982 by UNESCO.

The President of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly announced among the issues to be addressed during her visit women's empowerment and the fulfilment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Espinosa acknowledged on Wednesday Cuba's commitment to multilateralism and called the island an important UN ally.
