Cuba beats US, qualifies to U24 handball world championship

Cuba beat 37-36 United States in the final of the 1st IHF Men's U24 North American and the Caribbean (NAC) Emerging Nations Handball Championship, based in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic.
According to the official website of the contest, Cubans won the game and the ticket to the world championships in overtime (4-3), after winning the first half by 21-17 and losing in the second by 12-16.
Reinier Taboada and Omar Toledano took the highlight for the Caribbean side by scoring 12 goals each and were supported by Hanser Rodriguez, who netted six shots, while Gary Hines (7) shone by the losing side.
This win had taste of revenge, because Americans had defeated 26-23 Cubans in the group stage.
It is worth noting that the Cuban team beat 45-7 Barbados in the group stage, 32-16 Martinique in quarterfinals and 27-23 Puerto Rico in semifinals.
The bronze medal went to the Dominicans, who won 40-39 over Puerto Rico.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''.
