Artemisa, Cuba - The Cuban Association of United Nations (ACNU), the Cuban Union of Computer Scientists (UIC), the Cuban Union of Journalists, the Cuban Association of Social Communicators, the National Union of Cuban Jurists, the National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba and the Association of Cuban Pedagogues call the 1st Provincial Internet Governance Forum, to be held on May 6th at the ANEC headquarters, located at 16 Street, in Artemisa.

The current international negotiation context for Internet governance is extremely complex, so it is essential to promote the provincial and national process of exchange and discussion among the Multiple Stakeholders.

The Internet must have neutral, democratic and participatory governance, based on the UN Charter, international law and multilateralism, as well as the important role of civil society on these issues. This Forum proposes: to achieve a vision of what Internet Governance represents for Cuba; to ensure that all actors have an integrating and systematic exchange space from the assessment of the Multiple Stakeholders; to support the social development of the Internet in Cuba; promote and strengthen the culture of the population in order to maximize Internet opportunities and face their risks and challenges; contribute to local development based on the citizens' benefit.

The general topics to be addressed are:

• Internet for local development.
• Research, development and innovation.
• Digital economy
• Ethical, legal and cultural challenges of the Internet.
• Good practices and social appropriation of the Internet.
• Digital inclusion.
• For a cybersecurity culture
• Regulations for the use of  Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
