Diaz-Canel Attends Cuban Workers Congress

Havana - President Miguel Diaz-Canel is participating Monday in the working commission of the 21st Congress of the Cuban Workers'' Union that analyzes important aspects for the country''s economy.
Through debates in the Havana Convention Center, the contribution of workers to the efficiency of the economy and the role of the union in the materialization of priorities are also assessed, Cuban presidency´s Twitter asserted.
Diaz-Canel since his taking office a yer ago, has repeatedly reiterated that one of the country's priorities is the economic battle.
The strategy is to work tirelessly with alternatives already designed, without leaving aside the goals set in terms of greater welfare for our people, said the President at the closing ceremony of the 3rd extraordinary session of the National Assembly of People's Power on April 13.
The more tahn 1000 delegates to the union congress, gathered in five groups, analyze the functioning of the organization as an essential conditionin to guarantee its leadership and the contribution of the workers to the efficiency demanded by the national economy.
The challenges of the workers' movement in the face of transformations in the labor scenario linked to the growth and diversification of non-state forms of management, and the representation and defense of workers' rights and duties, are other issues to be discussed.
Under the slogan Unity, commitment and victory, the meeting is scheduled to conclude next Wednesday.
