Cuban Vice President chairs delegation to the Belt and Road Forum

Gladys María Bejerano Portela, Vice President of the Council of State and Comptroller General of the Republic, arrived on Wednesday in China at the head of the high-level Cuban delegation that will attend from this Thursday until Saturday the II Forum of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, in Beijing, under the title "Cooperation of the Belt and Road Forum, shaping a brighter shared future".
The Cuban delegation is also made up of the Minister of Communications, Jorge Luis Perdomo; the Deputy Head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Juan Carlos Marsán, and the Director of the Center for International Policy Research, Adalberto Ronda, among other officials.
The delegation will participate in four of the 12 parallel sub-forums, according to Cubaminrex.
Five thousand delegates from more than 150 countries, including 37 heads of state or government, as well as more than 90 international organizations covering the five continents, have confirmed their attendance.
It is hoped that this edition of the Forum will lay the foundations for multilateral cooperation under the umbrella of this comprehensive initiative, which promotes a new type of globalization in which the areas of infrastructure, industrial capacity, development of special economic zones, agriculture, culture, tourism, finance and environmental protection are enhanced.
Cuba has strengthened its linkage to the Belt and Road Initiative since the signing, in November 2018, of an agreement with China for cooperation. The agreement entered into force recently.
