In favor of sustainable development

Artemisa, Cuba - The assembly process prior to the 8th Congress of the National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba (ANEC) began on June 14, 2018, under the slogan ''Contributing to development''. The event is aimed at continuing to strengthen sustainable economic and social development.

During the municipal process, the internal work of the sections was analyzed and the economists presented projects to be discussed at the 8th Congress -from June 12 to 14, 2019, in Havana-, explained Marta Silvia Díaz Jaime, ANEC president in San Antonio de los Baños. "The municipality, specifically the Base Enterprise Unit (UEB) Drugs, will present at the event an effective system for the transportation of drugs in the province of Artemisa, which could be applied in other territories of the country," the president said.

After the analysis developed by the ANEC structures in the municipality, represented by 11 delegates, the report of the province of Artemisa analyzed the application of new organizational, structural and functional forms in the state and government management bodies. The main economic activity is concentrated in the Agriculture, Industry and Services sectors, with an enterprise system composed of two groups of national and provincial subordination. In addition, the Mariel Special Development Zone, of great economic importance for the province and the country, is located in Artemisa.

Based on the evaluations issued by the delegates, important tasks have been undertaken such as: the training of ANEC members, leaders and officials in aspects related to the process of updating the Cuban Economic and Social Model, the training of the presidents of the Popular Councils and the members of the economic commissions of the Assembly, the monitoring of the results of the national checks through internal control and audits, the contribution to education with more than 5 thousand graduates in Basic Technical Accounting and Finance courses, among other activities.

The ANEC members support the Revolution, Socialism and the Cuban Democratic System, ratifying what was expressed by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raúl Castro Ruz: "They have the mission to fight for the economy, in which they are specialized soldiers, and they have to fight in the first combat line."
