Havana - Cuban Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca reiterated his government''s support for foreign business people investing in Cuba as a result of new U.S. measures against Havana.

During a business forum with Spanish companies in the tourism sector, we confirmed our support for the business sector of other nations, and especially that of Spain in confrontation with the Helms-Burton law', wrote the official in Twitter.

Recently, Donald Trump's government activated Title III of that law, which allows U.S. nationals to sue before the U.S. courts persons and entities, including those from third countries, who invest in Cuba in properties nationalized after the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959.

During the event, we were grateful for the traditional confidence of Spanish companies in the Cuban market, Malmierca said.

He also highlighted the support of the Spanish Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Maria Reyes, for her country's companies present in Cuba, despite the threats posed by the Helms-Burton law.

Reyes, who is visiting Cuba to attend the 39th International Tourism Fair FITCuba 2019, met Monday with the Vice President of the Council of Ministers of this country, Ricardo Cabrisas.

Both sides have expressed their mutual interest in working in a coordinated manner to strengthen the links, for which the reactivation of the Intergovernmental Commission and the signing of the new Country Partnership Framework with Spain are expected.
