"Using alternative means to achieve quality productions is one of the current priorities of agriculture in San Antonio de los Baños in the face of the Cuba's situation regarding the acquisition of inputs for agricultural production" -said Lenin González Rodríguez, technical and development director of the Agricultural Enterprise in the territory.

The director pointed out that the inputs are mainly used for the production of corn, one of the prioritized items due to its impact, inside and outside the island. "There are problems with fertilizers, but planting is a primary task to sustain the company's commitments, including: supplying priority centers in the territory and delivering agricultural products for social consumption and for the markets of the country's capital" - said González Rodríguez.

From the studies carried out by relevant scientific institutions, agriculture is committed to the development and implementation of sustainable practices aimed at increasing fresh and quality productions.

The productive forms in San Antonio de los Baños intensify the effective and efficient use of the soil as the only alternative to preserve it, in response to the food demands of the population. Research, workshops and training meetings demonstrate the sense of responsibility of the Ariguanabo peasants in order to produce more.
