Cuban Jasiel Rivero was included in the All-Star Team of the 2019 Argentine Basketball League, as reward for his outstanding performance in the Boca Juniors team.
According to the vote of the Association of Basketball Clubs, Rivero, 25 years old and 2.06 meters tall, was chosen as best power forward of the tournament in its regular stage.
The Cuban athlete was the leading scorer of the contest (789 points in 37 games), for an average of 21.3 per game, in addition to leading the free throws (165), according to the website www.radiohc.cu.
The other members of the All-Star Team were Argentine point guard Pedro Barral (Obras), American-Jordanian shooting guard Dar Tucker (San Lorenzo), Argentina´s small forward Marcos Mata (San Lorenzo) and Dominican center Eloy Vargas (Gimnasia).
SF Mata was also chosen as the tournament MVP.
In addition to Rivero, other Cubans play in the League of that South American country such as SG Karel Guzman (Ciclista de Junin), SF Yoanki Mencia (Gimnasia) and C Pedro Antonio Bombino (Atletico Quimsa), all members of the Caribbean national squad.
Another Cuban player, C Javier Justiz, shone during several seasons in the Argentine league where he even won a title with the San Lorenzo club, although he now plays in the Spanish League for the Tecnyconta Zaragoza.
