Havana - Cuba´s sports movement held on Monday a meeting with specialists from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX), where US economic blockade´s impact was denounced.

Yusnier Romero, interim director of legal affairs and analysis of the MINREX, gave a conference where he set out important issues about the Helms-Burton Act, whose title III was recently activated by Donald Trump administration.

In his speech, Romero separately explained each of the four articles of the Act, and its negative impact on the Cuban economy, especially number three on nationalization, after the 1959 revolutionary triumph.

The article, among other issues, seeks to sanction foreign investors who hold business with entities linked to this process of nationalization, and grants the right to their former owners to demand compensation for it.

In this regard, the specialist argued that Cuba has legal mechanisms to defend the interests of these investors within the country, and that this Act has no validity in Cuban territory.

At the end of the meeting, Romero said, 'I am honored that the Cuban sports movement has invited me to share impressions and experiences on this subject. It was a fruitful debate for everyone.'
