Maduro Ratifies Call for Parliamentary Elections in Venezuela

Caracas - The upcoming parliamentary elections will allow closing a cycle of destabilization and conspiracies promoted by Venezuelan opposition sectors, President Nicolas Maduro noted.

At a recent meeting with the leadership of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), the president ratified the need to reestablish the National Assembly (Parliament) in judicial contempt since 2016.

'Years of disaster have turned the legislative power into a useless power, kneeled down to the interests of the US empire,' the Venezuelan head of State said on Monday.

In that regard, Maduro called on the PSUV leadership to organize the machinery for the elections, which will be called 'sooner than later'.

Maduro also urged to mobilize the revolutionary forces to kick off a pre-campaign of honesty to achieve the necessary triumph for the country's peace.

'A victory of the Revolution in the next legislative elections will be the strongest force of energy and peace that the country can get to close the cycle of destabilization and conspiracies,' the president stated.

Maduro highlighted the importance of the recent talks between the Government and the opposition in Oslo, Norway, to find a solution to the political conflict in Venezuela.
