Panama -  Fighting air pollution is the main motivation to celebrate on Wednesday the World Environment Day, where about seven million people worldwide die prematurely from air pollution every year.

Such a date, set up by the UN General Assembly in its December 15, 1972 resolution, is a great opportunity to encourage all governments, communities and individuals around the world to seek together solutions to this global problem through renewable energies and sustainable technologies.

China will be the global host of this celebration in recognition of its leadership in addressing air pollution at the national level with proposals related to clean energy and electric mobility.

This will be the perfect opportunity for the Asian nation to exhibit its innovations and breakthroughs for a cleaner environment.

According to a new UN report on air pollution in Asia and the Pacific, the implementation of 25 tech policies in such a region could result in a reduction of up to 20 percent in carbon dioxide emissions and 45 percent in methane emissions worldwide.

Cuba, on the other hand, celebrates this date by fulfilling all actions set out in the national program for beach rehab and all scheduled tech projects, at the same time that about 72 000 hectares benefited with improvement and soil preservation measures.

Cuban forests index in late 2018 was 32.23 percent, confirming the forest-covered area growth in the past eight years.
