Malaysian Intellectual Disqualifies Helms-Burton Act against Cuba

Kuala Lumpur - Amid world protests against hightened US blockade on Cuba, Malaysian intellectual Chandra Muzaffar published in Kuala Lumpur an article that dismantles the foundations of the Helms-Burton Act.
The expert states that this monstrous legislation should be assessed in the context of the old and ineffective Washington's policy against Havana and those enforced in 1961 for the mere fact that Cuba 'then chose its own way of development inspired by socialist ideals.'
Muzaffar, who is also the president of the non-governmental organization International Movement for a Just World (JUST), added that because of the continued failure of that policy, 'the imperial power has even become more hostile towards its small neighbor' and tries to plunge it 'into a state of backwardness and underdevelopment.'
After Muzaffar denounced that the administration of Donald Trump decided to 'tighten the knot' around Cuba by applying Title III of Helms-Burton Act, he exposes some of the facts that reveal the opposition to that measure by the international community.
The European Union considers it a clear violation of the international law due to its extraterritorial nature, as it did when the law was fully enacted in 1996, he recalled.
