Cuba Recalls Antonio Maceo and Ernesto Che Guevara's Birthdays

Havana - Cubans are remembering this Friday the birthdays of the general of the Liberating Army, Antonio Maceo (174 years old) and the Argentine Commander Ernesto Che Guevara (91), following the example of patriotism and anti-imperialism bequeathed by these two men.

Maceo - son of Mariana Grajales, considered in Cuba as the Mother of the Nation - was educated along with his brothers under strong rules of discipline, work, neatness in dress, courtesy, and respect for the elders, honesty, solidarity, courage, tenacity and love for his country.

Several historians describe him as a master of military tactics, and it is estimated he participated in more than 600 combat actions against Spanish colonialism, among which are about 200 battles of great significance.

About the Argentine-Cuban Commander Ernesto Che Guevara in the book: 'Fidel and the Religion' by Frei Betto, the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro expressed: 'He was already a trained revolutionary; besides, he was a great talent, a great intelligence, a great theoretical capacity. (...) as well as exceptional human conditions of comradeship, selflessness, altruism, personal courage.

Ernesto Che Guevara - who was born on June 14, 1928 in Rosario, Argentina, and Jorge Ricardo Masetti created the Agencia Latinoamericana de Noticias Prensa Latina, on June 16, 1959.
