Geneva - Cuban Minister of Labor and Social Security Margarita Gonzalez reaffirmed her country''s commitment to defend Non-Aligned Movement(NAM)positions at the International Labor Organization (ILO), diplomatic sources reported on Wednesday.
This was stated when she spoke during the meeting of Labor Ministers of NAM, held within the framework of the 108th ILO Conference taking place these days in Geneva on occasion of the 100th anniversary of the organization.
According to a diplomatic note, the Cuban representative also ratified Havana's commitment to 'unity and cooperation among non-aligned countries.'
The official said that the 100th anniversary of ILO 'forces us to reflect on all efforts of the organization and our countries, what we have achieved and what remains to be done in the world of labor, to comply with the goals that have been proposed in the interests of achieving safe, equitable and decent jobs for a decent future.'
She also emphasized that unemployment, the worst forms of child labor, forced labor, deficit of decent work in vulnerable groups, discrimination at work, among other evils, require maintaining attention to achieve compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Gonzalez referred to the importance of strengthening within the NAM the level of coordination, agreement and participation in the work of ILO, so that 'our positions are taken into account to a greater extent.'
