Sanders sees Trump Out of Touch with People's Needs

Washington - Independent Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders sees US President Donald Trump out of touch with the needs of this country''s people today.

The legislator for Vermont posted a video on social networks in which he responded to the speech delivered last night by Trump at a rally in Orlando, Florida, to launch his re-election campaign ahead of the 2020 elections.

According to Sanders, listening to Trump made him feel that the republican ruler lives in a parallel universe, and that he is a man out of touch with the needs of ordinary people who must be defeated.

The member of the Upper House accused the head of State of appealing to the racial, economic and political divisions to try to secure a second term.

Sanders, who gained great national notoriety in the 2016 election process, when he was defeated in the Democratic primary by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, presented himself as Trump's antithesis and called on voters to deny the president to stay a second term in the White House.

We have a president who is racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic and a religious fanatic. His strategy to win re-election is to divide the people, added the senator, one of the presidential hopefuls of the Democratic Party, which several polls put him ahead of Trump in the intention to vote.

Sanders said the speech made by the head of State was an hour and a half of 'lies, distortions and total nonsense.'

Sanders' response to Trump's address also made reference to the issues that the Republican did not address at the rally, including the threat posed by climate change and the country's economic inequality with low unemployment and unemployment rates, despite the rise of the stock market.

'We have a lot to do. But our most important task is to defeat the most dangerous president in the modern history of this country. Our job is to keep our eyes on the prize', the legislator added.

For its part, the campaign of former vice president Joe Biden, who appears as the favorite of the voters of the blue party in most polls, refuted on Twitter several comments made by Trump.

'Let's be clear: President Trump inherited a growing economy from the Obama-Biden administration. And now, he's in the process of squandering it', said the team of former presidential candidate Barack Obama (2009-2017).

Trump continues to undermine our position in the world. Our core values of inclusion, diversity, respect for the rule of law, and freedom of expression, press and religion are under attack here and abroad, Sanders added.
