Batalla de las Guásimas: National Vanguard Collective

Artemisa, Cuba - The Basic Unit of Cooperative Production UBPC Batalla de las Guásimas, located in San Antonio de los Baños, received the National Vanguard Collective Distintion from the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC) -22 consecutive years-, for the economic, productive and Trade Union results achieved during the 2017-2018 Tobacco Campaign. The UBPC also received the CTC’s 80th Anniversary Flag and several Trade Union Distinctions.
During the political-cultural event, the following productive commitments were ratified for 2019: reaching 40 tons of tobacco layer for export, producing 320 tons of root vegetables, vegetables and grains and 40 500 liters of milk. Other commitments are the contribution to the municipality's tasks and to the local development.
The national secretary of the Agricultural, Forestry and Tobacco Trade Union Néstor Bárbaro Hernández Martínez, congratulated the workers and the province of Granma, which will host the main celebration for the 26 of July, the National Rebellion Day.
Tobacco worker Lucas Clausell Crespo expressed the consecration and dedication of UBPC workers to continue being an example in tobacco production, in addition, the workers' firm rejection to the Helms-Burton Act and their unconditional support for the Venezuelan people.
Culture
Fidel's presence was recalled in several Ariguanabo centers and institutions. Students from the Eduardo Abela Vocational School of Art, located in San Antonio de los Baños, paid tribute to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, through dance and music.
