Young Latin American Farmers for a Common Front to Face Challenges

Artemisa, Cuba - Activities for the 7th Congress of the Latin American Coordination of Rural Organizations (CLOC) have opened Tuesday in the municipality of Güira de Melena in the province of Artemisa with a meeting to analyze the challenges of young farmers in the region.

Under the slogan 'Youth from the countryside, youth from the cities: let's fight together for our ideals' the participants will discuss issues such as access to water and land, explained Liecer Ramirez, from the Federation of Coffee Growers of the Southern Region of the Dominican Republic.

As part of the events, the 6th CLOC Women's Assembly will be held on Wednesday.

There will be discussions during both meetings and the strategies for the struggle to demand different social issues such as equality and the fight against discrimination will be defined.

On Thursday, more than 350 delegates from 21 countries, 250 of them foreigners, will visit Cuban farms and cooperatives to learn and exchange experiences.
