China Supports Multilateralism, Inclusive Economy at G20 Summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday reaffirmed his support for multilateralism, the UN''s active role in global affairs and the creation of a fair and non-discriminatory environment for business relations. When meeting at the G20 summit with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the Chinese president stressed his country's position in favor of peace and dialogue to find a solution to any kind of conflict.

Xi expressed concern and asked to avoid a worsening of the situation in the Middle East due to US tensions with Iran, after considering that the G20 Osaka summit should send the right signals to guarantee stability, sustainable growth and at the same time care of the nature.

In his conversations with his peers Cyril Ramaphosa (South Africa), Abdel Fattah El-Sisi (Egypt) and Macky Sall (Senegal), he warned about the threats posed by protectionism and the harassment of companies for the international order and economic globalization.

During a meeting on e-economy, he advocated for the free flow in commerce, personnel, technology and information in the world, as well as the preservation of the industrial chain and an equitable business environment.

Xi Jinping proposed integrating this modality with the real economy to achieve greater interconnection, put them in terms of eliminating poverty and fostering sustainable progress.

China is ready to participate in the international cooperation, keep the market open and foster benefit to lead the development of e-commerce, he said.

Xi is participating Friday and Saturday in the plenary session of the summit among the world's 20 largest economies. Xi will also talk with US President Donald Trump on Saturday, to resolve the tariff war unleashed between their countries last year.
