Artemisa, Cuba - Dr. MSc Saily Sosa Pérez received this year the recognition of Outstanding Clinical Researcher 2018, and the funding from the Molecular Immunology Center, belonging to BioCubaFarma for her participation in an academic training event outside the country sponsored by the Cuban Neuroscience Society (SONECUB) of which she is a member since 1998.
Sosa Pérez is a Second Degree Specialist in Internal Medicine, Assistant Professor, Associate Researcher, Master in Satisfactory Longevity, Head of the Provincial Service of Community Comprehensive Care for Memory Disorders at the General Teaching Hospital Iván Portuondo in San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, and researcher in charge of the Phase II-III Clinical Trial "Evaluation of the efficacy and safety of the nasal administration of NeuroEPO in patients with mild / moderate Alzheimer's disease" that has been carried out since 2017 in this clinical site.
During 2018, she was the best researcher of all the Clinical Trials conducted by the Molecular Immunology Center in the country in terms of patient inclusion and for having also received the highest evaluation at the Audit of Good Clinical Practices conducted by the National Regulatory Agency ( CECMED), in August 2018, to the center where the Clinical Trial is carried out, of which she is the responsible researcher.
In March of 2019 she received the recognition, for the second consecutive year, of Clinical Researcher for her outstanding participation in the development of clinical trials in the province of Artemisa, granted by the Center of Molecular Immunology in the III Provincial Workshop of Clinical Trials.
On June 13 and 14, 2019, the researcher participated in the 28th International Conference on Neuroscience and Neurochemistry in Barcelona, Spain. At the meeting she received the First Prize with the research entitled "Clinical and demographic characteristics of patients with Alzheimer's disease and Mild Cognitive Impairment in a Rural Community of Cuba".
As part of the event, the Doctor held a fruitful exchange with Dr.C. Pablo Martínez-Lage Álvarez, specialist in Neurology and scientific director of the '' Fundación CITA-alzhéimer '' Advanced Research and Therapy Center, in San Sebastián, Spain. The main objective of the meeting was the exchange of experiences and news about the daily work in both care and research centers, in Spain and San Antonio de los Baños, and the unification of action criteria based on a comprehensive approach regarding Alzheimer's disease.
