
Lima - Amid reports and threats from the so-called Islamic Army (ISIS), the organizing committee of the Lima 2019 Pan-American Games guarantees the security of the event.
Authorities of the armed forces and security services, along with the chairman of the aforementioned committee, presented on Monday the Security Plan of the sports event and assured that the games will be run smoothly, for which strict precautionary measures have been taken.
The reassuring message was given when Brian Alvarado, 23, has been detained and investigated in reserve for six days, allegedly recruited by ISIS which, according to journalistic versions, he kept in touch with a foreign expert in bomb attacks.
The news state that he had some plans of the Pan-American Village that will house the participating athletes and other facilities for the competitions.
All these buildings have rigorous security, as well as the press center, where metal detection systems is mandatory every time journalists enter those facilities.
During the presentation of the Security Plan, it was confirmed that athletes, journalists and the audience will be protected by 34,000 policemen and policewomen, the armed forces and other authorities.
