Artemisa, Cuba - The Urban, Suburban and Family Agriculture Movement in San Antonio de los Baños has stood out during different tours of the National Agriculture Group in this territory.

In the last route, the work with the small cattle and the breeding of goats, rams and rabbits was taken into account to evaluate the municipality. Another subprogramme evaluated was the application of organic fertilizers on farms. They visited the farms of medicinal plants and seeds.

Among the achievements of the municipality are the National Reference Cooperatives, such as the UBPC “Batalla of Las Guásimas”, the Horticultural Farm of the Youth Labor Army, as well as producers such as Raúl González and Yuniel González Paneque for their contributions in the area of cattle raising. The fruit trees belong to the prioritized programs of Urban Agriculture, which are planted in family yards, technified nurseries, cooperatives and farms such as Domingo Cancio and Homero Pérez.

The work of organoponics is another important achievement of the municipality, since healthy and chemical-free productions are commercialized, especially fresh vegetables and condiments. Other cultivable areas such as the La Felicia farm and its nursery El Cordobán, dedicated to ornamental plants, use techniques based on agroecology, saving water and resources; also with the management of pests that prevents the deterioration of the plantations.
