Raul Castro, Diaz-Canel in Act for Cuban Rebellion Day

The leading Cuban authorities head this Friday the celebration of the National Rebellion Day in the Plaza de la Patria in Bayamo, with the participation of thousands of inhabitants of the eastern province of Granma.
The first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raul Castro, and President Miguel Diaz-Canel were present at the commemoration of the attacks on the Moncada Barracks in Santiago de Cuba, and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes, in Bayamo, 66 years ago, on July 26, 1953.
Those events led by Fidel Castro were the small engine that started the great one of the Cuban Revolution, victorious six years later, according to Raul Castro, one of the survivors of that heroic action.
President Miguel Diaz-Canel evoked Fidel Castro and the generation that took up arms, overthrew the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista and led the Cuban Revolution to triumph.
This is where the historic leader of the Revolution delivered his last speech on the anniversary, Diaz-Canel recalled.
The Cuban President also recalled the reasons why Fidel Castro chose Santiago de Cuba and Bayamo to attack the barracks of tyranny in those cities on July 26, 1953.
Granma was chosen to host the commemoration of the anniversary because of its socioeconomic results, in a territory with growing agro-industrial development.
