Since the very moment Zayli Noda Garcia from Alquizar knew about her problems to have a child, her life focused on achieving that dream, with the full support of her husband Karel Carmenate Pérez and the advice of many specialists, starting with Dr. Ibáñez, always supporting the desire of this couple to achieve their goal.
Ten years ago, an ectopic pregnancy marked the beginning of a difficult path that then continued with the search for procreation by normal route, impossible due to Zayli´s hormonal disorders with hyprolactinemia, and damage to one of her Fallopian tube.
Neither pills, nor the attempt to repair tubes or the inseminations, resulted, hence his case passed in 2014 to the National Assisted Reproduction Commission.
Finally, in 2017 they were called to start the process, first with the relevant tests at Ramón González Coro gynecobstetric Hospital and then at Hermanos Ameijeiras Surgical Clinical Hospital, where they performed a first in vitro procedure in January 2018 that failed, and another in September, double successful.
Zayli, now a 35-year old happy mother, does not have the words to recognize all the specialists who closely followed her pregnancy, both in González Coro and Ciro Redondo hospital in Artemisa, as Ibáñez, together with the gynecologist Alberto Garcia, they were watching each stage.
Take care of a longing
“We received the pregnant patient, referred sent from Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital with a two-embryo implant for in vitro fertilization, with approximately eight weeks. He had ultrasounds performed, normal hormonal dosages, and we proceeded to his prenatal care, ”explains Dr. Garcia, an obstetrician at Las Cañas Basic Work Group.
“She had no risk factor so far, except that it was a twin pregnancy. All the complementary analyzes required by their category were performed and it evolved perfectly, the ultrasound showed a fetal growth according to the gestation time ”, Garcia adds.
It was difficult, Zayli says . “I was in absolute rest for a long time, with consultations every 15 days, complete check-ups almost monthly, and since 33 weeks I entered the Ciro Redondo, in the Prenatal Care Room.
“Unexpectedly, at the dawn of May 2, I broke the fountain, and then the nurses and doctors there redoubled their attention to me as if I were a relative of theirs. At 1:00 p.m. Caesarean section began and 12 minutes later José Ignacio came to the world and shortly after Mercedes de la Caridad ”.
Gynecologists García and Ibáñez performed the surgical procedure. “Preterm birth is very common in multiple pregnancies. In the case of Zayli, at week 35 she had a premature rupture of the membrane, it evolved for six hours and then it was operated because in the in vitro pregnancy it is stipulated to practice cesarean delivery ”, says García.
With weights of 2300 and 2250, the children spent a few hours in the crib and then about two weeks in the hospital, with their mother, receiving all the necessary care.
Now, at home, they gain weight normally. “We feel very happy, parents, grandparents, uncles ... and I doubly: for the scientific part, for this achievement of our medicine, completely free; and personally, it is a triumph for the family, a marriage of ten years without children and achieving two children instead of one! ”, Dr. Garcia, also paternal grandfather of the little ones, expresses with joy.
José Ignacio and Mercedes de la Caridad breathe love from the whole family to support Zayli in this double effort that supposes satisfying the demands of two babies that tomorrow, surely, will know about all the efforts of their parents and multiple specialists who put their knowledge based on their birth.
