Artemisa, Cuba - The Maternity Home in San Antonio de los Baños guarantees comprehensive medical care for the mother and the child. According to Ms. Barbara Diéguez Acosta, head of Nursing at the center, pregnant women receive updated information on the advantages of breastfeeding for the future mother and her baby; Individual and collective health care is provided, based on the risks of the patients, through educational talks on various topics such as: teenage pregnancy, anemia, sexually transmitted diseases, among others. In addition, pregnant women are informed of the duties and rights of patients and family members, as well as the regulations of the center.
The Maternity Home has specialists in Psychoprophylaxis (for the preparation of pregnant women before, during and after childbirth); in Rehabilitation (in charge of morning gymnastics and specific exercises for pregnant women); specialists from the House of Culture and the Municipal Library, who contribute to the recreation of patients; They also receive the visit of members of the Federation of Cuban Women, said Diéguez Acosta. Doctors, nurses and obstetricians carry out collective visits every Thursday to monitor pregnant women, which allows them to continue with comprehensive medical care, concluded Bárbara Diéguez Acosta.
The Maternity Home in Ariguanabo is a Cuban institution that protects the right of every woman to a safe and happy motherhood.
