On August 22, 1922, the 2-LC radio station, of the musician and combatant of the Independence War, Luis Casas Romero, from Camagüey, became the pioneer of broadcasting in Latin America. An analog girl then saw the light; she grew up among words, sounds and effects, until she became a digital old woman; but always young and faithful to grateful hearts.
At the beginning, it belonged to the classes that possessed the political and economic power in Cuba to impose ideological and cultural patterns; then, with the foundation of Radio Rebelde, from the Sierra Maestra, a new stage of broadcasting began, highlighting the values of sovereignty and the struggle for a fair and democratic social system.
Certainly, with the triumph of January 1, the Cuban radio expands, reaching the most remote places and expanding its horizons to inform, provide culture and education, entertain and always accompany the revolutionary process. That is why, on the occasion of the 97th anniversary of the Cuban Radio, Artemisa's radialists welcome the celebrations, committed to working better from our Ariguanabo Radio which shows renewed energies on its 48th anniversary.
This is how the radio is going through its 97 years. Its is reborn on every anniversary; always accurate and immediate, punctual and dedicated to its listeners. Cuban Radio is celebrating its birthday, and the commitment is to live up to these times.
