From Internet to Radio

From Internet to Radio

Cuba was one of the pioneers to develop radio and television in Latin America. Since 1922, and sponsored by the International Telephone and Telegraph (ITT), the first radial plant was set up on the Caribbean Island.

The first radio station that broadcast in Cuba was 2LC, on August 22, 1922. Since that time, Cuban radio has made history. Novels and dramatized, informative, sports, and cultural programs. Each program, in a space where time runs like light, opens the eyes and ears of those listeners who want to see and hear, because radio allows them to enter its world.

Currently, information and communications technologies move faster; and it is a challenge for each radio station, program director, advisor, broadcaster, assistant or journalist, to reach an audience that goes alongside technologies.

"Networks are the means of communication most used by audiences, as a source of information that defines the technological stage of this era." Certainly, Internet users connect and update immediately, but La Radio - I do not simply say radio, because it is the broadcasting device - is able to stride and include the giant technology in the modulated frequency, and radio is born on the Internet: We see, we hear , we update, we make life stories, we interact, we connect ... and, whether we agree or not, there is a space of criteria in which we all learn.

I agree with the professor and journalist Raúl Garcés, of the School of Communication, that we should not fear the Internet but learn from it, use social networks correctly, study it; and we do that, converting each Cuban radio station, and of course ours, (Radio Ariguanabo) into a wise, fresh and current radio, which still has much more to do: reach every corner of its San Antonio de los Baños .
