Aug 23 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced the construction of the country''s second telecommunications satellite, named Guaicaipuro, in order to expand 4G and 5G services in the country.
During a public speech at the Industrial Plastic Complex, in Miranda state, the president said that the new investment will be carried out in partnership with national and foreign companies.
Maduro instructed Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jimenez, and the President of the Socialist Corporation of Telecommunications and Postal Services, Jorge Marquez, to advance the construction of the second satellite.
The construction of the satellite is part of the agreements signed between China and Venezuela in September 2018. It is expected to be in orbit by 2022.
