Successful chapter of Cuban athletes in Lima 2019 Parapan Games

Efficiency and devotion marked the performance of Cuban athletes in the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games after ranking seventh in the standings with harvest of 13 gold, 10 silver and 16 bronze medals.
33 out of the 46 Cuban athletes climbed to the podiums for a high 71.7 percent, while regarding the amount of medals, they reached 84.8 percent of effectiveness.
Within the milestones of this edition we may include the three gold medals of sprinter Omara Durand in the women´s 100, 200 and 400 meters T12 races, who thus proved why she was chosen as standard-bearer of the Cuban delegation.
Another who earned a trio of medals was swimmer Lorenzo Perez with a title in the men´s 400m and silver in the 50m and 100m freestyle S6 events.
No less prominent was the debut of Yenigladys Suarez with gold and bronze medals in the Women's 10m air pistol SH1and the Mixed 25m pistol SH1, respectively.
Very relevant crowns went to the necks of Yunier Fernandez in men´s table tennis TT1, as well as javelin throwers Ulicer Aguilera (men´s F13), Guillermo Varona (men´s F46) and Gerdan Fonseca (men´s F43-64), the latter was one the very few participants in the six editions since Mexico 1999.
Cuba´s other Parapan champions were woman weightlifter Leidy Rodriguez (41-45 kg), judoka Yordanis Fernandez (men´s +100 kg) and long jumper Luis Felipe Gutierrez (men´s T13).
Despite all the inconveniences, it can be summarized that the vast majority of Cuban athletes gave everything in the different scenarios, even if not winning, and therefore deserve the greatest recognition of their people, who were always present in their competitions and to which they dedicated their performances.
The Lima 2019 Parapan Games were another successful chapter for Cuban handicapped athletes.
