Russia and India to continue cooperating with Iran

Moscow - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured this Wednesday in the city of Vladivostok that their countries will maintain mutually beneficial and legitimate trade and economic cooperation with Iran.
Both leaders are participating in the Eastern Economic Forum, which begins today and will run through September 6, in the coastal city of the Russian Far East.
Sputnik reported that the joint statement highlights 'the need for full implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program, to guarantee regional and international peace, security and stability.'
The report also emphasizes that issues related to the JCPOA, to which France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia and China are signatories, must be resolved through dialogue.
The deal signed in 2015 established limitations on the Iranian nuclear program, in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions on Tehran.
However, last year the US, a founding member of the JCPOA, proclaimed its withdrawal and immediately intensified economic, financial and commercial sanctions against Iran.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohamad Yavad Zarif recently expressed his regret that European countries need to ask the White House for authorization to comply with the deal.
