Artemisa, Cuba - The political-military act for the 60th anniversary of the creation of the San Antonio de los Baños Air Base, to be held on September 5, took place this week; an auspicious occasion for the start of the 2nd instruction period of the 2019 Defense Preparation Year.

During the event, the exquisite trajectory of the Girón Beach Guard Aviation Regiment was highlighted next to the Cuban Revolution and in defense of the conquests, defending the homeland's sky. A history represented in the participation of Cuban aviation in the mercenary attacks of Playa Girón, in the internationalist missions for the liberation of African nations, in the Tribute Operation, as well as when Ernesto Guevara de la Serna's remains, and those of four of his comrades, arrived in Cuba.

On the occasion of the celebration, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raúl Castro Ruz, sent a meritorious congratulation letter.
