Harare - Cuba's first deputy foreign minister, Marcelino Medina, concluded on Saturday an official visit to Zimbabwe during which he held official talks with local Foreign Ministry officials and was received by Vice President Kembo Mohadi.

The delegation headed by Medina left for Tanzania as part of a tour through four African countries that began Wednesday in South Africa and will end in Rwanda.

Sources from the Cuban diplomatic mission in Harare reported that during the meeting with Mohadi, the Vice President described relations between the two countries as excellent and recognized the contribution of the Caribbean island to the independence process on the African continent.

Zimbabwe is very grateful for Cuban cooperation in health, said the official, who pointed out that the work of its doctors in this country is immense and develops in both urban and rural areas.

He also referred to the training of thousands of Zimbabwean professionals in different Cuban universities.

During his two-day official visit, the Cuban diplomat and his delegation were also received by the Parliament President, Jacob Mudenda, and by the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kirsty Coventry.
