Dr. Master in Science Saily Sosa, responsible for the Cognitive Disorders Department in San Antonio de los Baños, expressed the challenge that Alzheimer's represents - as a neurodegenerative disease - for neurosciences, Cuban Public Health and society. At present more than 50 million people suffer from Alzheimer's, therefore it is considered an epidemic of the 21st century. Unfortunately, that figure is expected to triple by 2050.
