What is never impossible

This magic show takes place almost without audience. The spectators are involved in another important matter: their training . Thus a new headquarters of the University is being born, between scaffolding and books, the drills sounds and voices in the classrooms, the careful desire for transformation and learning commitment.

Builders try to turn the once polytechnic Democratic People's Republic of Yemen, a deteriorated facility, into a welcoming place for the Pedagogical and Social and Humanistic Sciences faculties of Artemisa University.

A beautiful cafeteria, an "air" corridor with modernity features , an inspiring entrance come out of the hat this time ... only that the show is built day by day, with many hands, and without any other trick than commitment.

Where there was before grass and remains of a sports area, new basketball boards have also appeared, and it is the same with the theater, wardrobes, windows ...

According to Osdeny Bonne, technical head of this peculiar function, they have to “plant and watering plant soil to complete the green areas. The classroom building , the residence, the dining room kitchen and the lighting are at one hundred percent.

Few details of the central corridor, outer aisle and the entrance are about to be completed by Cuban Fund of Cultural Property.

“What about tiling quality? It depends largely on the workforce, which is not qualified, and on the quality of the slabs.

However, everything was rectified and looked pretty good. ”

These days it is the turn of the details that have to amaze the public. Mario Moreno, head of the Angerona Creation Group, belonging to the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets, refers to the marquee and the signage of the entrance, to the link between the teaching and residential buildings, with pergolas and veneered benches, which still not yet finished ,they seem to be very attractive.

An abracadabra of aesthetics and utility drives the troop of men who cover columns, melts metal pieces or decorates with a brush and paint. The new cafeteria really invites, from the beautiful wood of its furniture and veneers to the bars and street lamps. It will be nice to take pictures in places like these.

But there is no successful magic show if the public is not delighted. Fortunately, they are doing it. Milena Pérez and Diandra Cabrera, fourth year students of Psychopedagogy, agree to praise "the conditions of the new facility, much better than in the previous one located in Alquízar: classrooms, bathrooms, design ..."

Karina Rodríguez, a fourth-year English student, indicates that, despite not being finished, the difference with respect to Alquízar´s is total, and also refers to the wardrobes with its keys.

The same happens to teachers. Olga Lidia Palacios, Introduction to Linguistic Studies teacher , says that for some time she did not perceive so much dedication and intention in guaranteeing comfort to students and teachers . “It exceeded my expectations. That invites us to prepare more; this effort must be paid with good lessons ”.

Geisha Valdés, from the Department of Special Education, insists on the need to take care of this gift in her hands. "From how we saw it at the beginning to this now, I hardly believed it." Perhaps that is why she has not minded to hear the sounds of hammers, saws and drills in the middle of her first lessons. "And they don't sound so much now."

Of course, many complain about the dust and how long it has taken, the jejenes and even writing on blackboard with chalk. But they are the same ones who went during their vacations to empty the rubble areas ... and who continue cleaning again and again. They have participated in the task with their willingness to achieve change.

"It will be magnificent, and will have a greater university environment than the headquarters," not a few say it.

Yorlien Velázquez, director of Computerization at the University of Artemisa, says that they already have what they had in Alquízar. “They have connectivity. It is only necessary to identify each cable of both laboratories and connect them, and the same for Wifi. And speed is good! ”

Meanwhile, the big area will continue to be inhabited by small bulldozers, men in boots and boys in tennis will meet in the halls, the air will carry sweats and dreams, until a date that everyone expects will be very close, perhaps the last expected.

Meanwhile, workers must fill their hands with cement and desire; only in this way will they achieve their magic, that of achieving what is never impossible.
