Havana - Despite government efforts, the quality of Cuban education is currently damaged by the US blockade that limits the purchase of materials in foreign markets, authorities denounced on Thursday.

The most recent report on the blockade underscores that the policy hinders payments for professional services offered abroad.

The text adds that the University of Sancti Spiritus could not acquire 20 SMART Brailler typewriters and hearing aids necessary to train undergraduate and graduate students' studying degrees in Special Education.

Likewise, the document denounces that, due to the blockade regulations, Cuban officials were unable to participate in educational programs here and in US universities.

From April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019, in the '8 de Marzo' medicine production company, there were disruptions in the production process, given the impossibility of acquiring raw materials with the required frequency, the report detailed.

From April 2018 to March 2019, the US economic, financial and commercial blockade brought about losses to Cuba in excess of 4.3 billion dollars.

Taking into account the depreciation of the dollar against the value of gold in the international market, the blockade has caused quantifiable damages of over 922 billion dollars to Cuba during the last six decades.

Cuba, which will present the draft resolution against the US blockade for the 28th consecutive occasion to the UN General Assembly, has the support of the majority of the countries of the world.
