Cuba contributes to global orthopedics despite US blockade, Mexican expert asserted

Cuba contributes a lot worldwide in Orthopedics and Traumatology and despite the blockade imposed by successive U.S. governments for almost 60 years, there is international recognition of medicine and particularly in this branch, Dr. Sergio Quintero Hernandez, president of the Mexican Federation of Schools of Orthopedics and Traumatology, said in Havana.

He stated that the Caribbean nation has been a reference in his country in terms of updated treatment, and recalled the external fixers RALCA, devised by Cuban Dr. Rodrigo Alvarez Cambras.

Since then, a lot of specialists came to learn how to place them, apply them and where to use them, which is the most important thing, the professor, who is attending the 18th National Congress of Orthopedics and Traumatology running until Saturday in several institutions in Old Havana, stated.

This Mexican Federation is the largest institution in that country in the discipline with 63 schools and a total of 3.300 orthopedists throughout the nation, the expert assured.

Quintero Hernandez heads the 4th Cuba-Mexico binational meeting organized as part of the Congress, which is attended by representatives from all over the country and renowned professors from Switzerland, Germany, Puerto Rico, Spain, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Colombia, among others.
