US blockade affects culture sector

The economic, commercial and financial blockade, imposed by the United States against Cuba, has forced the Cuban people to fight against adversity, for more than 50 years.
This genocidal policy affects all sectors and directly damages the Cuban population, in the most vulnerable areas. Its effects on the Culture sector, specifically in the municipality of San Antonio de los Baños, are obvious examples of this aggressive policy.
Bárbara Lucrecia Gónzalez Viera, municipal director of Culture, presented evidence showing how the US blockade prevents and slows down the full development of the cultural sector.
"The Culture sector in the territory is affected by the US blockade, because transportation problems prevent us from carrying out cultural activities and events in rural areas," the director reaffirmed.
With 60 years of Revolution and going through extreme situations, the Cuban people have shown courage. It is obvious that the genocidal blockade will never defeat Cubans' sovereign spirit.
