Learning by Doing

Artemisa, Cuba - As part of the Learning by Doing philosophy, the International Film and Television School, located in San Antonio de los Baños, combines theory and practice, during the three months of the Regular Course.

In October, the 3rd year students of Documentary Direction began the pre-thesis phase, an exercise that tests everything they have learned, during their journey in the so-called ''School of All Worlds’’.

Currently they move to the town of Bauta to carry out the research phase of their pre-thesis work. After 10 days of previous research, students must present their ideas to their future teams consisting of photographers, sound engineers and third-year editors who, together with the filmmakers, will make the documentary film.

Documentary pre-theses are an important exercise to test students' knowledge, explore a new territory and produce professional works that could reach the most important film festivals.

In the Regular Course, the Documentary Direction  is one of the specialties that promotes high technical capacity in future filmmakers, the creation of their own style and aesthetic language, ethical responsibilities and extensive knowledge about new trends and current gender circuits  worldwide.

San Antonio de los Baños is one of the locations also used every year for the filming of these theses.
