Tobacco production grows in Artemisa

Artemisa, Cuba - With an increase in the sowing and collection of tobacco leaf layers for export, is taking place in the province of Artemisa the tobacco campaign, according to Francisco Lam González, agricultural director of the Lázaro Peña Company located in the municipality of San Antonio de los Baños.

He told the press that in the 2019-2020 tobacco campaign they planned to collect 803 tons of tobacco and deliver to the industry 140 tons of light tobacco leaf layers for the twisted of export.

He added that the Company of the Tobacco Collection and Benefit, Lázaro Peña in the province of Artemisa, concluded the 2018-2019 campaign with the sowings completed, the collection of the 803 tons of tobacco contracted with a yield exceeding the 1.16 t / h expected, an increase of 12 tons tobacco leaf layers for export in relation to the real reached in 2018 and the commitment to achieve the estimated of 140 tons for this year.

Explaining the strategy of the Company in the current energy situation, he stressed that they formed four brigades made up by the personnel who are not directly linked to the production as managers, specialists, technicians and service workers, which support the benefit of the tobacco in the select units from San Antonio de los Baños and Caimito.
