Blockade denies Cubans broad internet access, officials say

Havana - The U.S. blockade is currently the main impediment to the flow of information and the widest access of Cubans to the Internet, according to Cuban authorities.

The most recent report on the effects of this policy against Cuba states that it hinders and makes connectivity more expensive in the country, conditions access to platforms and technologies.

He adds that it uses cyberspace to subvert Cuba's political and legal system.

The document that Cuba will soon present to the UN General Assembly exemplifies that the restrictions of the blockade prevented the realization of International Money Orders.

It concludes that economic damage to communications amounted to more than 55 million dollars from April 2018 to March 2019.

The damage caused by the application of the blockade in almost six decades amounts to 922,630 million dollars, taking into account the depreciation of the dollar against gold.
