Venezuela expresses solidarity with Ecuador and Chile's peoples

Caracas - The delegates to the first International Congress of Communes, Social Movements and People's Power, which closed on Sunday, expressed their solidarity with the peoples of Ecuador and Chile in their struggle for their rights.

In this sense, the final declaration of the event demanded the cessation of repression and the excessive use of force against social movements and popular mobilizations that demand in those countries the end of neoliberal policies harmful to the quality of life of the population.

With the presence of more than 100 representatives of community organizations from some twenty nations, the meeting also ratified the support for the struggles of the Haitian people for their legitimate claims in the face of the serious political, economic and social situation existing in that Caribbean territory.

The first Congress of Communes denounced the failure of the government of Ivan Duque to comply with the Havana Peace Accords, as well as the selective assassination of social leaders and ex-warriors in Colombia.

The delegates condemned the use of unilateral coercive measures, including the economic, commercial and financial blockade, by the Government of the United States against nations such as Cuba and Venezuela, in order to impose its interests in the region.

They also highlighted the accompaniment of the authorities of the South American nation, and especially its communes, social movements and popular power organizations in their struggle for peace and the right to self-determination.

Held in Venezuela to give continuity to the agreements of the meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum, the congress raised the need to create an International Network of Popular and Alternative Communication for the struggle against imperial domination.

It also agreed on the creation of the International People's Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, based in Venezuela, in order to study and articulate the economic, productive and technological efforts of the people's power in the world.

The fundamental purpose of the commune is the building of the communal state, through the promotion, impulse and development of the protagonist participation of the citizens in the management of public policies, and in the conformation and exercise of self-government on the part of the organized communities.
