EICTV students conclude pre-thesis

Artemisa, Cuba - The filming of five short films concluded this weekend, as a result of the Documentary Pre-thesis Exercise carried out by the third-year students of the Regular Course at the International School of Film and Television, in San Antonio de los Baños.

On September 18, the third-year Documentary students left for the Municipality of Bauta, where they were part of an intense documentary film creation workshop. Accompanied by filmmakers Rafael Urban and Damain Sainz, each student traveled to find, in the landscape and inhabitants of Bauta, the stories they wanted to tell.

According to Juliana Fanjul, coordinator of the Documentary Department, the Photography and Sound students joined the process, as well as a group of professional filmmakers. Each shooting day concluded with a long session, where every technical, formal and narrative aspect of the short films was discussed.

Cameras and microphones are left to enter the editing islands, where rewriting will be a beautiful new process to learn how to watch, listen, think and feel the cinema. Five very interesting and creative films are yet to be born.
