Cuban FM participates in NAM ministerial meeting in Baku

Havana - Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez, arrived in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, to participate in the Ministerial Meeting that precedes the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit, to be attended by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel.
The Cuban diplomat ratified the nation's commitment to NAM as a mechanism for political agreement among the countries of the South and denounced the tightening of Washington's hostility towards Havana, especially the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act.
Rodriguez also denounced the proliferation of plundering, the arms race and the increase in unconventional wars, acts of aggression, unilateral sanctions, manipulation and politicization of human rights and disrespect for the right to self-determination of nations.
The ministerial meeting prior to the 18th Summit of Heads of State and Government of NAM opens today in the Azeri capital.
The foreign ministers will be the ones to prepare the agenda and documents of the presidents who will represent the 120 member nations of the Movement, after the previous work of officials from those countries.
Cuba presided over NAM on two occasions and hosted the 6th Summit in 1979 and the 14th in 2006. Venezuela has been heading the organization since 2016 and will turn over the mandate to Azerbaijan.
