Moscow - Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel met on Tuesday with Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev, whom he conveyed a special greeting from the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raul Castro.

At the meeting, held in the Russian Government's Protocol Palace in Moscow, Diaz-Canel noted that there is great satisfaction in Cuba with the meeting between Medvedev and Raul Castro during his visit to Havana early this month.

In addition, the Cuban president highlighted the prime minister's interest in continuing Russia's participation in Cuba's development program until 2030 and proposing new ideas to expand cooperation.

Medvedev, in turn, invited the Cuban head of State to participate in the festivities on Victory Day on May 9, 2020, when the 75th anniversary of that event will be commemorated.

Shortly before meeting his Russian peer, Vladimir Putin, at the Novoe Ogoriovo residence, on the outskirts of Moscow, Diaz-Canel referred to the importance of Medvedev's visit to Havana to boost bilateral relations.

Previously, Diaz-Canel met with Russian business people, who briefed him about the state of joint projects, including in the iron and steel, machinery construction, energy, transportation and banking sectors.

At the meeting, the Cuban president noted the difficulties his country is going through due to the tightening of the United States blockade, but he reaffirmed the will to never make concessions and to continue to implement development programs in Cuba.

The Russian entrepreneurs referred to the possibility of building assemblers in Cuba, while Diaz-Canel called on them to participate in the country's development programs with more investments.

He pointed out that Biocubafarma is working in Russian regions on the basis of their potentialities to identify new market niches to export goods and services.

He noted that the Russian ministers from the sectors most involved in bilateral cooperation were present at the working breakfast he held with business people.

Also present were Cuban Ministers Bruno Rodriguez (Foreign Affairs), Jorge Luis Perdomo (Communications), Gustavo Rodriguez (Agriculture), Alfredo Lopez (Industries), Eduardo Rodriguez (Transportation) and Rodrigo Malmierca (Foreign Trade and Foreign Investments).

On Tuesday, the Cuban president visited the Zariadie Park, the Tretiakov Art Gallery and the Arbat Boulevard in Moscow.
